Dokumentation Obersalzberg

A place of guided learning and remembrance, the Dokumentation Obersalzberg offers students the opportunity to study and reflect on the history of the region, particularly during the Nazi seizure of power in 1933. Here, school groups can compare the locations of historical Nazi installations to the Obersalzberg area of today while taking in the enormous influence of National Socialism on the region.

Deutsches Museum

A great excursion for MFL students, the Deutsches Museum has so much to see that student groups often spend the best part of a day here. With an emphasis on science and technology, the museum holds over 100,000 objects, making it one of the most advanced science and technology museums in the world.

Neuschwanstein Castle

One of Europe’s most famous castles, this Romanesque Revival palace is positioned on a rugged hill in southwest Bavaria offering stunning views and a wealth of history. Originally a retreat for King Ludwig II of Bavaria, the castle hosts more than a million people each year, and is an excellent setting for teaching students about Bavarian history.

Third Reich Walking Tour

On a Third Reich Walking Tour, school groups will visit several sites across Munich which played a significant role in the development of the Nazi Party – from the building where Joseph Goebbels launched Kristallnacht, to sights related to the Beer Hall Putsch. An excellent way to teach students about Munich’s dark past.

Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site

In commemoration of those killed at the Dachau concentration camp during the Second World War, this memorial site houses a museum, an archive and a library for your exploration. During your visit, your school group will walk through the remaining buildings of this historic site and its reconstructions, while learning about the biographies of former prisoners.

Berchtesgaden Salt Mines

We can’t wait to show you the Berchtesgaden Salt Mines – the oldest of their kind in Germany. Here, students will have the chance to travel almost 1.5 kilometres of the mine, travelling on a track that takes them into the depths of the mountain. On top of interesting facts about salt production, they’ll also learn about the impressive history of the nearby Old Salt Works.

Munich Documentation Centre

As the proposed ‘Capital of the Movement’, Munich played a key part in the Nazi regime, and is one of the best places in Germany for learning about the Second World War. At the NS-Dokumentationszentrum (or Documentation Centre), students will learn all about the history and consequences of the regime, and the role of Munich during that fateful time.

The Eagle's Nest Berchtesgarden

Located several miles above Adolf Hitler’s summer home, the Berghof, the Eagle’s Nest was a popular location for meetings within the Nazi Party. After escaping destruction after the Second World War, it’s since reopened as a restaurant, beer garden and tourist site, offering phenomenal views across the Obersalzberg resort.

Please note that in case of unforeseeable weather like snow, rock fall or strong wind, the Eagle's Nest can be closed.
