We're supporting the ESSKIA 2022 school ski competition

This October, Equity School Travel will be supporting the ESSKIA English Schools’ dry slopes finals at the Norfolk Snowsports Club.

A competitive ski event, the Finals in Norfolk bring together all the schools who pass the English Regional Qualifiers to race in teams against each other. The winning teams will then be invited to represent England in the British Finals in November.

The weekend begins with practice slots on the slopes on Friday, with Saturday divided into age groups: primary schools, and Years 7 & 8. Sunday features the Open Championships, which is for senior school ski teams only.

After a warm-up session and course inspection, each team completes their first run. This is immediately followed by a second run for each racer. The result is calculated using the fastest three times on each run for each team.

As well as the opportunity to represent England in the British competition, the fastest three girls’ teams and the fastest three boys’ teams in each age category will win trophies.

ESSKIA actively encourage children across the UK to participate and excel in skiing, both in the UK and abroad. By improving the excellence of young skiers, they are helping to encourage more students to take up skiing and are training the next elite skiers to represent the UK in competitions.
