Cavalese is the most famous resort of the Val di Fiemme, a very pleasant area south of the Val di Fassa which incorporates some brilliant ski resorts, with as many as 51 lifts and 150km of meticulously groomed pistes. Three areas are linked by free shuttle bus, and since the ski school is happy to travel, there's no problem investigating all of them.

The principle ski area is Alpe Cermis, only 21/2 miles from our hotel. This is reached by a cable car from Cavalese which opens out magnificent views and a network of 37 lifts. There are runs for all standards - bar none. The next area is Pampeago and Predazzo, which is a few minutes further and but has lovely, undulating slopes which are perfect for schools. Then there's Lusia, which has fabulous skiing perfect for early intermediates, and truly astonishing views. The spectacular Dolomite panorama is nowhere better viewed than from here and there are a host of typical log rifugios from which to enjoy it.
Our hotel is in a typical Dolomite village called Carano which is very centrally positioned for the skiing and is on the free ski bus route. If you are travelling by coach it's even easier.

A beautiful mountain village only 1.2km from Cavalese and close to all the other ski areas as well. Quiet but relaxing and charming. It's very much a typical Dolomite village.

This is a fantastic 3 star hotel, 100m from the centre of Carano, and a mile from the skiing at Cavalese, which we would recommend to the pickiest adult guests. The hotel owner offer friendly welcome to our school groups. The Corona has 23 rooms, mostly twins with some 3 bedded. All have private bathroom and TV, half have balcony and great views.

The public rooms are spacious, comfortable and pleasant. There is an elegant restaurant with 2 separate areas so school groups can have their own room. There are beautiful views from the dining rooms over Cavalese and the Dolomites.
