Wonderful value
•
Great for schools by coach
•
Very pretty area
Lienz is located in the South East Tyrol,
just north of the Italian border, with the highest
Austrian Alps to the north and the Dolomites to
the south. The skiing is in 2 sections, and both
are good. The main area is reached by a modern
cable car to a high bowl where there's some fabulous
skiing for beginners and keen intermediates on
good snow. Sun worshippers will be in their element
because this is Austria's sunniest region and
there are magnificent balcony views of the Dolomites.
There's a good network of lifts and plenty of
mountain restaurants. The ski school is excellent
with children.
.
The second area is the Hochstein, which is better
for strong intermediates and includes a 7km downhill.
Although unnecessary, especially for beginners,
it is possible to buy a lift extension to cover
the Ost Tirol and Kärnten ski region which
adds up to 350kms.
Lienz is a very pleasant and totally unspoilt
little town with plenty to do. This is a high
value package because Lienz is still making its
name and our hotel is on the outskirts of the
village; not a problem when you are travelling
by coach.
