Unique ski location
Great city with lots to do
Easy to ski the Axamer Lizum

This classic alpine town, with its dramatic backdrop of snowy mountains, has hosted the Winter Olympics twice and offers a unique list of attractions to skiers. There's a beautiful old quarter, plenty of varied nightlife, excellent shopping and a wonderful atmosphere. We have selected a superb hotel which is really good value.

You can ski as many as 7 local areas, but overall, the Axamer Lizum is the best for school groups. Unlike most Austrian ski areas, it lacks character because there's no village, but you have all the character you can handle in Innsbruck. The skiing is high, the snow is reliable and the pistes are both extensive and varied. There's also a large bowl where the snow is always good and beginners make good progress. There's a fantastic black run which is fine for intermediates, plunging 7kms from the treeless bowl, then through forest down to Axams.
Igls is also worth a day. It's more attractive, and has more variety, but the snow is not so reliable and it's a smaller area. There's a tremendous intermediate run down the Patscherkofel, which is a famous Olympic downhill, and was immortalised by the great Franz Klammer.

Beautiful alpine town with plenty of activities for non-skiers including historic buildings and museums.
wide choice of pubs, bars and restaurants
lively and colourful Christmas market in December
Olympic ice stadium offers good rates for schools

HOTEL ALPIN PARK (cap 160)
Very high standards throughout
Excellent public facilities
Very good rates

The Alpinpark is not the obvious choice for a school ski course, but winter is the off season so we have good rates in this huge, prestigious, top class hotel. The public facilities are superb, and the management are keen to welcome school groups. The city centre and station are a 15min walk, there's a bus stop nearby, and a large car park for your coach. The dècor is elegant, modern and practical but has classic Austrian touches like heavy timbers and wall panelling.
