Hotel Manager

The Hotels in our ski resorts
We run our own hotels in the ski resorts of Montgenevre, Serre Chevalier,
Les Arcs, Le Corbier, Schladming and Saalbach. These have between 20
and 65 bedrooms, holding 50 to 176 Equity clients. Our clients are a
mixture of school groups and adult parties. All hotel staff are recruited
in the UK and posted to resort for the winter. The importance of the
Hotel staff and the smooth running of the hotel cannot be underestimated
in the overall success of our client's holiday.
Key role
To provide a quality club-hotel service to Equity's clients within set
budgets taking full responsibility for staff management, bar revenue,
quality control and accounting. Sound administrative procedures will
be applied to all main areas of responsibilities.
General Management
You will need to create a friendly and professional atmosphere in the
hotel and the relationship established with clients will be vital to
Equity's operation. You will also represent the company to key people
in resort (Town Hall, Tourist Office, Police, etc.) and hotel suppliers.
In order to build up good relationships, you will need to converse easily
in French or German.
Staff Management
This is very much a hands on position and you will achieve your various
standards by setting the right example. You will head a team of 7 to
27 staff, some of whom may not have a hotel or catering background.
Training and motivation will, therefore, be essential to the success
of your operation. You will work with colleagues to develop a training
course, which will enable you to set standards right from the start.
You will need to establish strong lines of communication with your heads
of departments and staff throughout the season to ensure that standards
and motivation are kept up.
Bar
Our bars are always a focal point for the hotel whether open to the
general public or simply reserved for Equity's clients. The bar profits
are crucial to the financial set up of our hotel operation and you will
be responsible for ensuring your team achieves the targeted turnovers.
You will therefore put in place, in liaison with your bar team, a commercial
strategy which will include theme evenings, special promotions, snacks,
picnics, etc..
Quality Control
It is essential that you monitor quality within the hotel constantly
throughout the season. You should deal quickly and efficiently with
possible problems, before they become a major issue. You should regularly
up-date your Country/Area Manager of problems within the hotel.
The main areas of quality control to monitor on a daily basis are:
Supplier services, quality of products, deliveries,
etc.
Food presentation, quality and efficiency of
service and hygiene standards.
Standard of cleanliness throughout the hotel.
Staff appearance and performance.
Repairs and maintenance must be carried out
quickly and within budget.
Accounting
Responsible for daily accounting and regular
banking including preparation of suppliers' invoices for payment and
cost returns completed promptly on a weekly and monthly basis, to
include bar coefficient, bar food, hotel food, repairs budget, laundry,
etc..
