Dance Championships 2016

The Equity and Ultimate Dance Championships were held once again this year at Disneyland® Paris in February.

A fantastic weekend was had by all, with schools travelling from across the UK and Europe to compete.

The competition was judged by Darren Carnell, who has had an extensive career in the Musical Theatre Industry and choreographed major West End productions, and Francis T Roughley, famous for his work on music videos and seen on Britain’s Got Talent 2013.

Many trophies were awarded for outstanding performances throughout the day. The overall winners of the competition were Dereham Neatherd High School and we would like to congratulate them on this fantastic achievement.

Rachael Harris, dance teacher and choreographer at Dereham Neatherd High School has said,

“My gifted and talented dance students benefited greatly from this excursion as they were able to experience first-hand the professionalism required to compete as a dancer in the industry. They thoroughly enjoyed the performance opportunity of the parade which will undoubtedly boost their confidence in front of a live audience.”

All participants of the competition were given the opportunity to audition and perform in the Disneyland® Park pre-parade along Main Street USA, an opportunity the dancers will never forget.

Athena Burns Performing Arts, participants in the competition had a great experience at this year’s competition and have said,

“I was very grateful to the team who took all our fussing on hand and were very helpful and kind. Charlotte was outstanding and I will be returning due to her organisation, friendliness and professionalism from the very first email. Thank you.”
