Recruitment Update

It’s in quiet times such as these, during this inter-season calm, when we can take a moment, breathe, reflect on the winter just gone while looking ahead on the seasons to come. Whether we consider the successes or challenges we’ve had in our full or peak season endeavours, there is always something to take away, always something we can use to improve ourselves as we go forward. Even in recruitment. In terms of the coming winter, we have been cooking up a pretty ambitious plan, one which will consolidate some of Equity’s recruitment efforts into a week-long road trip, each day a new city and a new event. Tentatively, the route will take Charlotte and several lucky colleagues west, over to Bristol, before cutting a path north with stops in Birmingham, Leeds, Newcastle and ending in Edinburgh. Just imagine those hours on the road filled singing along to ABBA Gold: Greatest Hits! (Volume 1, natch) But more importantly, we’re excited about the prospect of meeting the folks who’ll end up joining our team, become our colleagues and work with us to provide another impressive and meaningful winter season. Dance Championships 2016

The Equity and Ultimate Dance Championships were held once again this year at Disneyland® Paris in February. A fantastic weekend was had by all, with schools travelling from across the UK and Europe to compete. The competition was judged by Darren Carnell, who has had an extensive career in the Musical Theatre Industry and choreographed major West End productions, and Francis T Roughley, famous for his work on music videos and seen on Britain’s Got Talent 2013. Many trophies were awarded for outstanding performances throughout the day. The overall winners of the competition were Dereham Neatherd High School and we would like to congratulate them on this fantastic achievement. Rachael Harris, dance teacher and choreographer at Dereham Neatherd High School has said, “My gifted and talented dance students benefited greatly from this excursion as they were able to experience first-hand the professionalism required to compete as a dancer in the industry. They thoroughly enjoyed the performance opportunity of the parade which will undoubtedly boost their confidence in front of a live audience.” All participants of the competition were given the opportunity to audition and perform in the Disneyland® Park pre-parade along Main Street USA, an opportunity the dancers will never…

Winner of our Black Friday competition - Rippon Grammar School

Last November we held a Black Friday Prize Draw to give one school the opportunity to win £1000 to spend within their school, with a runner up prize of £500. We are proud to announce that Rippon Grammar School were the winners of this competition, and have advised they are using the money for books for the library. Our Sales Manager Zoe presented the winning cheque of £1000 to Rippon Grammar School (above picture). The runner up for the competition was The Weald school, winning £500. Equity Travel Advisor Kevin presented the cheque of £500 to the school. Congratulations to our winners and we are proud to be able to help support learning within these schools.

Winner of our competition - Stoke Park School and Community

In October we held a competition to give one school the opportunity to win £1000 to spend within their school, with two runner up prizes of £500 We are proud to announce that Stoke Park School and Community were the winners of this competition, and have advised they are using the money to assist funding school trips for students in need. Our Sales Manager Chris presented the winning cheque of £1000 to Stoke Park School and Community (above picture). Some of the money has already been spent on a gift for a student who is unwell. We are very proud to be able to support student learning. Our two runners up, both winning £500, were St Simon Stock Catholic School and Jo Richardson Community School. Equity Travel Advisor Rachel Gordon presented the cheque of £500 to St Simon Stock Catholic School, who have advised the money will be spent on a new printer for their 6th form students. Congratulations to our winners and we are proud to be able to help support learning within these schools.
